Camp 1, Done

Aconcagua’s Camp 2

The team had a long day today. They woke up early at Camp 1 (14,500 feet) and carried half their gear up to Camp 2 (17,800 feet). They then turned around and made it back to Camp 1, where they will sleep tonight. That was 6,600 feet of ascending and descending in one day! Tomorrow night they will sleep at Camp 2, 5,000 feet from the summit! The air is getting colder and the views of the mountain are more spectacular every day. We’re looking forward to seeing more photos upon Jeff’s return.

“It was a long day, but I’m feeling great!” said Jeff. “Weather permitting, we’re on track to reach the summit in a matter of days.”

We here at JGCAF find that very exciting!
